Lew, that's the best explanation I've heard for why LesStrat has more clarity with 500K pots. I was concerned that it might make him 'brighter', but what really happened was a crisper, cleaner tone.
I suppose I should be more specific. It depends on the kind of "thin" you're talking about. A 250k pot certainly won't add mids and lows. I was thinking more of the kind of guitar that has fairly decent mids and lows but the top is just razor sharp and needs a little dulling.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but, what pots are generally used in a bass? I have an OLP MM2 (passive stingray copy) that where the stock pots are the mini 500k ones. Are these the correct(or standard) pots for a bass as well? I ask because i don't think it would hurt to swap out the mini pots for full size ones but i'm not sure if i have the recommended value of pots to begin with.
