Toneport & ValveKing clip.

I've had these two units now for about a month so here is a clip.

I know a lot of people don't have the ability to track guitars in a big room all of the time, me included. Sometimes I use this set up and the results are passable imo.

Here is a 128k mp3 of a track using the Toneport UX1 through a ValveKing 50 w 1x12 miced with a SM57 - the vocals were also tracked through the Toneport using the Neve mic pre and a tube mic to give it a crunchy slightly distorted tone. I was going after a metal hard rock tone for the guitars in dropped D using a ec 400 ESP with EMG pickups.

It will not impress the purists for sure and it isn't suppose to really - I just think you can get pretty good usable guitar sounds at home.

Re: Toneport & ValveKing clip.

Very nice tone.I think The valve king is a very good investment!!!
I would be glad to hear hi-gain samples from you!!.since i use ux2 ,and sm57 ,i am going to buy a hi-gain amp and i still search the right one for the right price!!!

Re: Toneport & ValveKing clip.

That sounded pretty good, but i can tell the guitar isnt very big in the mix. Got anything else? Or just the guitar track by itself? Ive been thinking about going this route but :dunno:

Re: Toneport & ValveKing clip.

You can hear tracks on iTunes with the same set up under this thread -

PS, I think the weak link in the chain is actually the EC400 as the amp and Toneport are a good combo.

This EP covers a lot of musical ground with the main influences being Rock, Electronic, Classical and Metal - think U2, Depeche Mode, Evanescence. Tracks are already being picked up on some of the leading pod casts and indie radio shows. To listen to a few you can visit Here

Or on iTunes Here

Thanks for the listen!

Re: Toneport & ValveKing clip.

By the way with the ValveKing I always had it on the clean channel and cranked to 9 almost 10 and then used the Toneport to control the overall volume in the room. My neighbors didn't yell. :)
