It's gonna be a metal axe for drop D and I wanted a cheaper pickup. It cost me 50 bucks shipped. That's 20 bucks less than the cheapest big name offerings. I'm hoping to get a good metal bridge pickup. The guitar was just 190 bucks so imho not worth putting 70 bucks worth of PU in there. Just gonna change bridge pickup and jack. I'm in Germany and the used market is not as great as in the US.

Had a look at the Octane with Alnico 8, too. But at 62 bucks shipped its too close to say an EMG HZ at 69 bucks.
So is the Generator a JB clone? Should work fine for metal, right?
Edit: I think I might do this evh style and gut it then put in the Generator with only a volume pot and hook it up to a quality jack...
