Tonewood?

Re: Tonewood?

Epi is notoriously unspecific in their description of materials. I think by "tonewood" they mean, "some sort of wood that's commonly used in making electric guitars". Could be alder, poplar, mahogany (unlikely at this price), agathis, etc. In other words, it's not plywood, masonite, pine, or chipboard but beyond that, we can't tell you WHAT it will turn out to be.

An LP Special could definitely benefit from a Duncan pickup. It could end up a cool little guitar for really low $$. But...you might want to think about whether a $99 guitar really deserves an $80 pickup. The only way you can really tell is to play the guitar as-is. Does it feel good? Neck straight and action OK? Stay in tune? If so, then check out the soundclips page and pick yer Duncan...

Definitely keep the original pickup and all the pieces. That way when you want to upgrade you can put it back the way it was, pass it on to someone else, and keep your nice Duncan for the next guitar.

I'm gonna omit all my sarcastic comments and just agree with him... ^^^
