tongue twister hand practice thingy

Her Little Mojo Minion
i was goofing around tonight, and came up with a weird little one-string practice thingy. i was practicing it at around 167 bpm. feels kinda neat, and gets all the fingers working. use alternate picking of course.

all on the A string, just keep repeating:
5765 765 876 76 7654

fingers used:
1321 321 432 32 3211

advanced: increase the bpms to as much as you can handle, and move the fingering up the neck once a cycle is complete. feel the burn.

so what's the verdict: keep this stuff to myself, add an audio example, post more down the road? is there enough instructional stuff out there already?

Re: tongue twister hand practice thingy

Alrighty then, how 'bout a question more like other popular threads regarding body hair:

Should I wax my nutsack? Inquiring minds want to know. (check only one please)

[ ] Yes

[ ] No

[ ] Not sure

Looks interesting... I don't have my guitar with me right now (dang the stupid rules here at work!) But I'll try it later

As for your poll... I not only don't care - but I really don't want to know how it turns out either.:smack:

Re: tongue twister hand practice thingy

That's cool.

What I often do, I came up once with this bebop style thing.

e-8-5-6-7
b-8-6-7-5
g-8-6-7-5
d-8-6-7-5
a-8-6-7-5
E-8-5-7-6

Start at the low E and you can play the chromatic thing everywhere.

I gotta try that!

Re: tongue twister hand practice thingy

It sounds really good if you can speed it up..BEBOP!

You can shift this whole thing of course.

Just wanna make sure how I play it:

e------------------------------------------8-5-6-7
b----------------------------------8-6-7-5--------
g--------------------------8-6-7-5----------------
d------------------8-6-7-5------------------------
a----------8-6-7-5--------------------------------
E-8-5-7-6-----------------------------------------

Re: tongue twister hand practice thingy

I always like symmetrical patterns, Shawn Lane used this one a lot for an outside sound (of course you can shift it or use string skipping)

diminished run:

----------------------------------------------------------10--13--16
-----------------------------------------------10--13--16-----------
------------------------------------10--13--16---------------------
------------------------10--13--16---------------------------------
------------10--13--16----------------------------------------------
10--13--16----------------------------------------------------------

Another run:

-------------------------------------------------------11
--------------------------------------10--12---10--12---
-----------------------------------11--------11----------
------------10--12--10-----10--12-----------------------
---------11-------------11-------------------------------
-10--12--------------------------------------------------

and back to the low e string.

It's cool to get your both hands under control and practise alternate picking.
It's easier to play the stuff with alternate picking than economic picking.

The shawn thing can be done with legato too.

Re: tongue twister hand practice thingy

Here another one I found out:

--------------------------------8-7-6-5
--------------------------5-6-7--------
--------------------8-7-6--------------
--------------5-6-7--------------------
-------8-7-6---------------------------
-5-6-7---------------------------------

Every finger should work independently. Alternate Picking helps.
