Top Hat emplexador and Splawn Competition: opinions?

As some of you may know, I'm looking at shipping out the soldano and grabbing a more plexi/jtm45/bluesbreaker type amp for my rock band work. So, seeing as Splawn and Top Hat are now available in NZ, what are your opinions on the emplexador (50w head pref) and the Splawn competition? -I'll be looking at the quick rod and pro mod, but I'm more interested in simpler, lower wattage designs....

WELL.....

I had a Quick Rod & even at 1/2 power, it was way more amp than I needed. Can't speak for the Competition.

I now have an Emplexador & if they're available to you, I highly recommend trying one out.

In VINTAGE mode, it will get you those JTM45 & Plexi cleans all the way up to a nice pushed Plexi with the gain turned up.

In MODERN mode, it'll give you that cranked Plexi all the way up to JCM800 tones.

Takes pedals very well, but I currently use it with the BOOST switch on & mainly for a cranked lead Marshall tone...maybe a little delay.

Master volume is superb....running it thru an early 70s Marshall 4x12 w/Greenbacks & even at low volumes, it sounds amazing!

Again, if you can find one, you owe it to yourself to try it. Lots of versatility there :bigok:
