I'm considering going the route of the "Load one guitar with EMGs, the other with Seymour Duncans," and I'm curious as to whether the Duncan Distortion can act as my "Seering lead" pickup, so I can put an EMG 85 in my other guitar?

Yes. The DD kicks ass. But, there's only one way to find out

i had two humbuckers and I got a ring for a single coil.
