Trade 2 Fender Amps for an SG?

Hey all. So I found this black SG standard on CL and the guy was looking to sell it for $750 or trade for tube amps of equal value to the original price of $1200. I originally offered him my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe series II. I sweetened it up with a Line 6 Spider III. He didn't like the offer. I thought about it and countered with the deluxe and my Blues Jr. He's thinking about it. Do you think I'm making a bad trade here? I mean I have a Marshall head and a 2x12 cab plus the Line 6. I'm thinking I'm being a little hasty especially since I'll most likely just flip the SG because I ultimately want a 1988 LP Standard. Thoughts?

I would hold onto your amps... no point in taking a loss on the amps just to sell the SG later.....

I would sell the amps and save for the guitar you want to buy. No sense in trading for something you were going to sell.

If you were trading up it would make sense, but trading across (or maybe down) doesn't seem like a good way to get to the LP you want.

I dont get his logic of thinking that in cash its worth 750 and in trade its worth 1250. If your using used values for both the guitar and amps it should be straight across or close. Either way i think its a bum deal I wouldnt go for it at all.

Keep the amps and just keep on saving for the Les Paul. You'll thank yourself for it in the long run. Sell the line 6 and put the money from that towards the LP.

whether you take the new price for each item or use the approximately 62% used value set by the SG, the dollar amounts are really close as the trade is proposed. From what I gather, he is looking for the used value of the amps to equal the new value of the guitar, which is pretty unreasonable.

All in all, as it sits, it seems like a fair trade, though I wouldn't trade for the SG unless it was the guitar you really wanted or you think you have a better chance in getting cash value for the SG when you sell it, which might be pretty likely.

I was considering it because I thought that it would be easier to flip an SG on eBay as opposed to a couple of amps, especially with the cost to ship the amps. I tried CL, but I didn't get any bites on the amps.
