No, not trying to act tough going for a heavier guitar but I miss my old LP Custom and have this great 336 to trade.
Trading my Ebony Gibson Custom Shop 336. It's like a 335, only smaller body, like a Les Paul. Unlike the same sized ES 339, this is built differently and better. The body is a carved out solid block of Mahogany, like a Les Paul chambered. The top is carved solid Maple, unlike the 335 and 339 which is a plywood. That's why the 336 sounds like a Les Paul and 335..the of both worlds. It's light, has the nice open woody tones of the semi-hollow 335, but the punch of a Les Paul, the pickups and bridge are mounted in the solid center of the body, reducing feedback. I installed a killer pair of Bare Knuckle Mules...the most rockin' vintage PAF sounding pickups, just blew away the stock Gibson Classic 57's. You'll have to hear the tone to believe it! Also installed a Shadow Kill pot in the bridge volume pot...get that machine gun stutter by tapping on the volume knob. I have a pre-wired MojoTone harness with CTS pots and Switchcraft jack/toggle, I did not install that, I won't install it (unless ya want me to) but will include it in the trade in case ya want to go back to a stock (improved) style controls. Cosmetically, I did get this guitar from a touring pro who must have tucked in his shirt and have the back side rub on his Levis button....there's a lot of 'worming' on the back, nothing through the finish. It has it's share of scratches, and a small chip by the knobs which I touched up, no cracks or breaks. Has a nice bone nut and pro setup...plays like buttah. The Custom Shop case is beat up a bit, but all latches work and it does the job....so if you're looking for collectors axe, this is not it, if you need a great player that plays and sounds great with mojo (oh yeah, the nickel hardware has been naturally aged) than this is IT!
Looking for Les Paul Custom, prefer ebony...and under 10 pounds. Lemme know what ya got. Thanks
