traynor came today

Looking for Real Life
'72 bassmaster. I was at work till now so i haven't had a chance to crank it, but i can tell you the cleans are BEAUTIFUL and it takes pedals really well

MAN i can't wait to crank this thing, this is TORTURE! i don't even like playin clean, ever, i always have at least a tiny bit of crunch

it's gonna need retubed soon though, i can tell, the power tubes had a THICK coat of dust on em, thinkin JJ's

also the pilot light is out & the standby switch is bent, aaand it has a 3 prong cable but i guess the ground isn't connected

but the dust coating was kinda cool, like i'm the first one to hear it in 20+ years, all & all not bad for $350

I'll post more when i crank it

Re: traynor came today

I like mine. It takes a while if you are not used to the 4 inputs and dual volume thing to get used to it.

Re: traynor came today

hah i don't think i could go back to a 1 input amp, or even a 2 input amp

4 just... makes sense. All that cascading gain stages & midi homosex is overrated, atleast for the tones i like

Re: traynor came today

Chances are those tubes are fine---they might be Philips 6CA7's. Seen lots of Traynors with original tubes in them and a lot of them were still good. Get them tested before you swap them...there's not much in the way of current production that sounds like those Philips.

Re: traynor came today

yeah they're all originals but not quite the sound i'm goin for

I'm gonna keep em but for the current band they're not what i'm wanting

Re: traynor came today

Very cool Drew...I know your love for powerful amps, and you;ve gont another one with that beast!

I had owned a few of them overthe years (including one Voice Master PA Head) and have never been let down by them...best of luck with it!
