Traynor, eh?

I don't want you to buy it so that you'd never know how good it sounds. j/k

It has a great clean channel and a great dirty channel. The dirty channel is not per se a highgain channel. So if you are looking for mesa recto type of distortion channel, this may well not be for you. However, if you are looking for a medium gain, blues/classic rock voiced dirty channel, my Traynor 40W would kill most of the amp out there under $1500 price range. I had JCM800. Traynor ate it alive. I had Soldano Lucky 13. Traynor killed it. I have Rivera Chubster. Tryanor is kicking its butt.

Please don't ever buy it. I want fewer people know how good it is.

Brisk: What model do you have? I must go along with every one here and say that, in Canada, you see these things everywhere... I just never got to play one that much..

I sometimes wish that they'd start offering some of their line in head format instead of only combos

I have YCV 40 1x12. it is very early model. I heard that there have been few minor circuit change over the time. I have to mention that mine has NOS tubes and Celestion G12 Century Vintage.

If you haven't, please read HC review.

Re: Traynor, eh?

you know
i'm starting to think tha i'm more of a 6l6 distortion guy than an el-34 guy
sacralige i know
i say thsi because the quiana, mesa dc-5, and traynors ive played, i've enjoyed much more than the marshalls i've played
does the traynor get higher gain (more towards that modern mesa sound) when driven with a pedal

Couldn't agree with you more Brisk!! This Owl's been using his for just about a year, I play prog-rock and blues (witha dash of classic rock thrown in). The clean channel chimes and "spanks" like a Fender Deluxe and the Overdrive channel has that nice thick Marshall 50W Plexi roar going on but smoother and more singing. It's definitely NOT for folks who want that high-gain extreme modern metal thing (stick to newer Marhsall or Dual Rectifier Boogie's for that) but if you want a beautiful thick warm Class-A circuit sound for a reasonable price, Traynor is a winning pick!
