Loving my '70 Traynor YBA-1. Jamming today through high input of bass channel, running into 4x12 with Celestion G12-65's. Man this thing just barks with power & cut!

Re: Traynor YBA-1 barks!

Very nice! I've been mulling one of those early Traynors over for a couple of years now. Always thought that an OCD or something hitting the front end would be the way to go (like I used to do on my 2203X and other great amps). I owned three Traynors a while back (YCS50 Custom Blue 1x12 combo and a pair of YCS100H heads). They were okay, but the old Traynor stuff seems much more "legit" in terms of build quality and boutique tone than the modern stuff.

Re: Traynor YBA-1 barks!

I normally don't use pedals to push my amps. But over the weekend I decided to hit it with a few overdrives--KMD Overdrive, DOD 250, Boss DS-1, DOD Bi-Fet Preamp. Hot dang! Got the Traynor cooking into G'n'R land, maybe a little heavier. Not sure I'll keep my Laney AOR 50, cause the boosted Traynor slams it, plus it doesn't get overly saturated like the Laney does at full tilt.
