Traynor YCV50 Smooth jazz clip

Hi guys!

Told you I'd be back with the Traynor :D

Go figure, it's the second time I'm away for so long and I come back again with a jazzy clip.

It was Friday night, I was exhausted, had a crazy week with work and the kid, and I had an hour to kill with the guitar.

This is a chord progression I've been fooling around with for a while. I added a bass line, and recorded the rhythm and lead in one take, which is totally not my regular self, but I liked the vibe and decided not to go over it again. So it's not perfect, but the mood is there. The YVCV50 has an amazing clean sound, very warm and round, yet with great clarity. I'm digging this amp A LOT! I'm waiting for my CC before posting a rock clip. The gain of this amp is unreal.

It's the first clip at the top, called Piece of Mind (we can't have direct links to Soundclick anymore, or is it just me?).

It's so good to be back. Enjoy!

The Clip

Thanks man... I tried to capture a moment. This is probably th most spontaneous clip I've made. I like it for that.

Re: Traynor YCV50 Smooth jazz clip

Thanks Rid... and wait till you hear the lead channel... amazing! I just wait for my CC to arrive, because I don't want to make a clip with the crappy Agile (wilkinson actually) pickup. It's not bad, but ice-picky.

Re: Traynor YCV50 Smooth jazz clip

That sounds awesome, man. I love guitar jazz. Great stuff.

I also listened to a few of the other clips (with the Traynor, because I'm thinking of getting one). Great tone. I've heard a lot of good things about Traynor amps on the Duncan Forums. I have to get one for sure. Thanks for sharing. I hope that CC comes in soon. I'd like to hear more rock clips with that amp! :D

Very Cool, it reminds me of that old tune "Spooky" by the Atlanta Rhythm Section .

Thanks guys... got the CC today, but I'll put it in a new Agile I'll receive at the end of the week. I already have a couple of rock clips ready to record with the CC, so you'll hear the Traynor YCV50 lead channel soon!

I really dig that tone. How's the gain on this amp? Is it tight enough to pull off metal?

Well, the YCV50 has more gain than the YCV40 to my ears. When I crank the gain at 10, I get the sound I used to have at 10+Boss SD-1 on the YCV40. So I think that with a good gain/booster pedal, you probably can. Certainly not Numetal, but things like late 70s metal and 80s stuff.

I'll post a clip soon.

Re: Traynor YCV50 Smooth jazz clip

Ah ok. The dilemma for me is that I'm looking for an amp with a gorgeous clean and overdrive thatll get a nice breakup on the clean channel ala 70's prog rock and have the ability to get searing high gain lead tone's on the gain channel. Plenty of amps can do that with a boost but the problem is it needs to remain tight enough to chug if need be. My entire first demo borders death metal cuz that's what I was into at the time, but I can't imagine myself needing a pure metal amp otherwise- basically all I've been writing recently consists of classic rock/metal and prog rock. If I get something to suit pure metal it'll be too over the top... Plus this amp is waaay more in my price range then say... a mesa or something.

Can't wait for that clip :)

I've heard that Tubescreamer pedals will tighten up the sound of almost anything. I read that in a thread here the other day. It was a thread someone posted with a clip playing his new 7-string guitar and asked what everyone thought, and I believe it was DeadSkinSlayer who told him to use a Tubescreamer to tighten it up. You might even know this already. I don't know. But, this is the tips and clips forum, so I figured I'd share it. Anyway, I hope that helps.
