Treble Bleed Mod Question: Resistor?

I was peering in my PRS Custom 22's electronics cavity and spotted the Treble Bleed Mod. Some versions I have seen not only use a 180 pfd cap but a 150k ohm resistor. What is the resistor for? Clearly Paul didn't think it was necessary, so what is it doing and why do some people want to add it to the mix?

Re: Treble Bleed Mod Question: Resistor?

It depends on whether the resistor is in series or parallel with the capacitor. When it is in parallel, it prevents the cut off frequency from shifting around too much at lower settings. When it is in series with the cap, it will reduce the effectiveness of the filter, making it much more subtle the larger the resistor value is.
