Treble bleed mod

Will I achieve the same results just using a linear taper vol pot without it, Or would you suggest doing it on a linear taper pot as well?

From an electronic point of view, log or linear shouldn't make a difference. Log or linear merely affect the physical position of the volume knob in relation to actual output level. If you need a treble bleed for one, you should also the other.

I kind of thought so but I wasn't sure because I've never used a linear taper volume pot, only tone

This is something I need to experiment with. Since I play strictly at home, my vol and tone are always "dimed." I just reach over and adjust the amp for both. This will be 132 on my "to-do" list. ;)

What do you think about this, treble bleed mod on a 500k custom taper DiMarzio vol pot and two 1 meg tone pots, the pickups measure 15, 7.5 & 7.5.

My RG2 has a linear volume and a treble bleed
it works like a treble bleed

No the linear pot without the treble bleed did not bleed treble
it just adjusted volume

Well I think I'm going to use DiMarzio custom taper pots, from what I understand they're not linear taper.

Haha. I'm sure, too bright to color with the amp, ya think?

The thing is, it's not too difficult to swap pots later if you don't like it. Also, keep in mind, the treble bleed is only in the circuit when you turn the volume down. It's shorted out at full volume. As in, not there.

I did a strat with a JBJR in the bridge, the old DiMarzio YJM pickup in the middle & a lil Scremin Demon in the neck. It had a treble bleed & 1 meg tone for the neck but for the life of me I can't remember what the value of the other tone and the volume pot were.

Yeah... Ya don't really need it when it's cranked up

I don't have one one my Gibson LP 500 Meg audio taper
I am afraid it would hinder the volume/distortion thing I have right now

With the volume turned back to 9
It's clean and present
With the volume on 10
It overdrives the front of the amp

I really like that

Like Artie said though
It's easy to remove

i may try it tomorrow :butkick:

1 meg tone pots kind of suck because you have to turn them down to 2 to get solid darkening. 500k is the max you really need. up to around 200k is solid darkening, up to 500k is coloring, past that it's really just nonsense. What I do is use 250k no load pots for tone. Because 0-9 is all useful sweep and then 10 is max bright so you really get everything. If you want a broad sweep then just use a 300k no load tone.
