Treble bleed on NECK volume = happy me (aka "I am an idiot!")

I feel like such an idiot! I have known about treble bleed mods for years, tried a couple, and never quite worked it all out.
Then, yesterday, it finally occurred to me to try one on the NECK pickup volume instead of the bridge. I am really slow on the uptake: I like cleans on the neck pickup rather than the bridge but never put two and two together.
Long story short, I slapped a 440-ish cap on the neck volume put today and love it. I can get totally clean into my dirty amp without losing any of the sparkle or clarity i want from neck cleans. Duh!

Personally I prefer 50s wiring to treble bleeds; I even have my Strats and Tele wired that way.

I actually want it to get brighter and thinner as I turn down so this works great for me.

I'm a big fan of the Kinman treble bleed. Have you tried that?

Re: Treble bleed on NECK volume = happy me (aka "I am an idiot!")

Well it turned out the problem was not the type of treble bleed, it's that I tried them on the bridge pickup. The neck volume is where I should have tried it in the first place.

This makes perfect sense. The treble bleed mod is simply the demud mod, except that while the demud mod is on all the time, a treble bleed fades in as you lower the volume. I need to revisit this.

It was your demud mod that made me think of it. Thank you!
I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner - I have always played on the neck pickup when I play really clean but for some reason I tried treble bleed mods on the bridge pickup and did not care for the results. When the lightbulb finally lit up I felt pretty slow on the uptake.

Well, you paid me back in kind. It didn't click in my head that were similar 'til you made this thread. I never use a treble bleed, but now I'll have to try it out. ;)

At full volume it doesn't do anything, of course, but lowering the volume cuts the lows & mids while leaving the highs, so it cleans up really quick. Wouldn't work for everyone but with my amp & style it is really useful.
