Trem help

Ok, I need to either replace this trem with a new/simular model, find a trem arm for it or buy an OFR or Shaller and have the guitar re-routed. The current route is not body through and this trem sits in a pocket that is routed in the top but not through the guitar.

The original trem arm is missing and finding a replacement may be tricky.

Anyone know of a place to find these tremds or better yet a drop in replacement that isn't as wonky. Setting the intonation and the bridge tension is a bit strange on these bridges and the owner is defnately not in love with it.

The guitar is a 1988 Gibson V.

Come on tech dudes, hook me up!

Re: Trem help

Weird. I'm guessing there's no contact from Steinberger about this one? Would a Kahler top mount work instead?

Just noticed your gloss....nice.

Re: Trem help

I was going to suggest the Kahler topmount also but maybe an Ibanez Lo-Pro? I wonder why anyone would want to put a Steinberger trem on a Gibson V anyway, that is ungodly ugly

Re: Trem help

The trem arm is a screw in type but the arm I have isn't the original.

Gibson installed this mess, dont ask me why.

Re: Trem help

If you need an arm or replacement studs, Dave at frets on the net can do them. There's a guy on the Bill Lawrence Forum that he made some for the exact trem.

If you're looking for an exact replacement of the whole bridge.....I really hate to say it and give that fat little prick any business, but Ed Roman has anything and everything Steinberger.

Re: Trem help

Thanks 9finger, I'll look into it. I have dealt with frets on the net and he hooked me up with some parts for an old Kahler locking nut.

If I have to deal with Ed I will despite the internet stories. If he's got the stuff he can have the business.

I found a Steinberger forum, lets see what they say. Steinburger is now owned by Gibson so 20 year old parts may be hard to come by.

Keep it coming fellahs!

Re: Trem help

the only place I can think of is JK Lutherie ... they specialize in guitar parts and might have something ... worth an email.
