Anyone have experience with the Trem King tremolos? It sounds like a good idea. How well do they do what they claim?

Re: Trem King Tremolo

I played one a few times that was on a hot rodded Maple Board Warmoth guitar that had Seymour Duncan Live Wires in it. After a couple of times playing it, I was pretty impressed with it being smooth feeling and keeping tune, etc...and I'm a Floyd Rose kind of guy so that says something.

Re: Trem King Tremolo

I have never played one but have some interest as well. I saw some demos at a guitar show four or five years ago and the guy doing the demos broke a few strings. I have since read many claims online that it is not an issue.

This says a lot. My trem is blocked because I don't like things going out of tune. One of these might be a good alternative.

I wonder if the first ones tended to break strings and maybe they've overcome that issue or maybe it has to do with the type of strings you use.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I didn't have my glasses so I could never see where the strings broke, but in my experience it is rarely anywhere other than the bridge. If you try one of those bridges I'd sure like to hear how you like it. I have one build and two makeovers in progress but I have already purchased Wilky's for all three. I may try a Trem King when I start messing with the Tele or the baritone.

My Wilkinsons don't go out of tune. Is your trem on a Strat? It seem to me that high quality roller Tees and a well cut nut are the keys to stable tuning with an active trem.

Yeah, it's on a Strat with staggered tuners and no trees at all. The guitar has a good nut done by a pro but the bridge is stock. I just found out about the Trem King and was curious about it as a possibility. If I get one, I'll be sure to post a new thread about it.
