all right, so i have a nice little block of wood sitting at the back cavity of my strat now. :) :laugh2:
improvements? ok:
-VERY VERY RIGID bridge. very stable.
-the guitar seems to vibrate better:when the notes start to ring, i can feel the vibrations along the fingerboard. very cool
-no more strat spring buzz. since there is no more need of tension, i removed four, left one(for grounding purposes) so there is no more irritating spring buzz. yay.
-the notes ring better
-the low E has that spongy feel while the G-B-Estrings have a bit more body.
I don't know about sustain yet, because its late and i haven't plugged into my amp. but i can guess that from the notes ringing more lively, the sustain will somewhat improve.
i do not know what type of wood it is, but its very light and hard. i like it
maybe it seems like im making these up, maybe its because i was expecting them to make an improvement that i unconsciously state they are the bomb. but i'll trust my ears for now. i know some of you may not agree with me..if you don't please state what you disagree with and your reasons for saying so.

thanks for reading,
benji

Cool, ive often wondered what that would do to my guitar, might try it one day :D

I wonder if using hardwood as the block is far better than just tightening down the spring claw? I usually just tighten it down flush and tight, then chuck the bar.
I should try the wood block to see what the difference is.
