Trembucker or standard?

Is a trembucker pickup necessary for a stock Fender American tremolo? Or do they only pertain to Floyd type of tremolos?

Re: Trembucker or standard?

It's best to get TB trem versions anytime you're installing it into a Fender or Floyd guitar.
The poles line up perfectly. Std spacing for Gibson/PRS/Schecter etc.

Personally, I've changed my mind on the subject though. On my Fenders and G&L, I don't notice any dropout from having the strings underneath the outer edges of the poles on std spaced pickups. I do a lot of pickup changing, so I got tired of having to own the right one. Nowadays, I use mostly std spaced nickel humbuckers, so they're interchangeable among all my guitars. I even keep Duncan nickel covers on hand, just so I can buy open coil pickups real cheap, then cover them with shiny covers.

measure the distance on your e-strings, center to center, over thie pickup.... if it´s 2" or more , go trembucker... if it´s less, go standard.
