Re: Trembucker Seth Lover?
Hey Artie...They are pretty different pickups, I've tried both in the same guitar and I like the Blues a lot better. In terms of output, the C5 is a fairly high output pickup, compared to the Blues which has just a bit more output than a typical PAF style pickup. The Blues is a much thicker sounding pickup, due to the increased midrange. Think of it as a '59 with more mids, a little more output, and a tad bit less bass and treble. The overall EQ is very even, it's one of the few pickups in the Duncan lineup that doesn't have a certain frequency range that dominates the others. It's a bit warmer than most alnico 5 pickups, but it's not overly warm or overly bright, so it works well in a wide variety of setups.
To my ears, the C5 is much brighter than the Blues, with more output. It has a strong bass response, pulled back mids, and a lot of treble. I found it to be very bassy on the low strings and piercingly bright on the high strings. I could see it working well in a dark, midrangey setup, but I just couldn't make it work with my guitar and amp. I didn't like the lack of midrange, and it had too much output for my tastes.
