Trembuckers compared to humbuckers?

Re: Trembuckers compared to humbuckers?

i gotta believe that the two versions (hum/trem) of any given pickup model will have essentially the same output and tonal characteristics, with the only differences being attributable to manufacturing variances ... there is no 'intentionally designed-in" differences between trem and hum versions aside from the string spacing ...

you only select the trem version for the bridge position of a guitar with a trem bridge that results in the wider string spacing ... the only purpose is to make the strings line up over the pole pieces

hope this helps

Regular trembuckers are the same as humbuckers, they are just spaced wider due to the wider spacing of tremolo bridges. Duncan makes a set of pickups with parallel axis polepieces, and those are only available as trembuckers. The PATB-3 Blues Trembucker is my favorite, I've never tried the other two.

T4D is correct. In other words, an SH-6 and a TB-6 should sound identical, but with "stronger" e strings on the one that lines up better ;)
