Tremolo for the picky gentleman

I've got a few ideas on how to work a tremolo into my band's repertoire, but I think it sorta hinges on getting something that I can time properly. I want something with tap tempo that also resets the sine wave starting point when turned on. I know the Stone Deaf Tremotron has that feature, but it requires an external midi controller. The TC Pipeline does it to, but offers no tap tempo function until the effect is already engaged (not to mention clunky multi-function switch and no external tap input).

Can anybody recommend me one?

I have a Tremolo fetish, but damn, that IS particular! No idea what does that specific act. Might be a few. Might be none. Sign wave reset - that's deep....

I'm almost saying this is a software job, not a pedal.

Re: Tremolo for the picky gentleman

Well, the TC Pipeline does that. But that one is indeed digital and has a bunch of tweakable software in it. So would've been perfect, if it wasn't for that stupid switch.

Re: Tremolo for the picky gentleman

I hope this doesn't come across as snarky because I am sincere: does it really matter if the phase resets? Unless you're going for a slow throb I don't see how it would matter?

The Shape Shifter is a really, really good trem. The divisions select knob makes it really really usable. Do you really need the wave reset?

Re: Tremolo for the picky gentleman

I can see the wave reset thing being useful for very very slow (and slow in stereo) settings. For fast ones, not as much. But I don't have those kinds of needs out of a trem. I just need it to not have a big volume dip when engaged, which many do.

Re: Tremolo for the picky gentleman

I've never owned one before. But my intention is to use it as a vquitr choppy square wave, that classic helicopter trem sound. And I just assumed that doing that out of sync with the rhythmic pattern of the song would sound bad?

Re: Tremolo for the picky gentleman

You'd never know if the trem was choppy and fast like that- it would be in time with the music. I tried it last night with my trem, and I couldn't tell what part of the cycle it was in when I was playing.
