Tremolo with a long baseplate?

I just got a carvin that I love but the problem is that it has a wilkinson tremolo that floats. I dislike floating bridges because It feels like they make the strings too taught at standard tuning and suck tone out of the strings. The baseplate of the trem is the same size as the routed trem hole, which is about 1.5 inches from back of the plate to the center of the post. This + the fact that the string height isn't individually adjustable stops me from having it sit flat mounted. What's a good replacement for the trem? The gotoh 510 trem has a spacing of 3.8 cm which looks the be the same size as the one I have now so that's out the window. I was thinking a fender american standard? I can't find any dimensions for it though. Any help is appreciated. Here's a pic of the trem:http://i.imgur.com/CZTLsn2.jpg

Re: Tremolo with a long baseplate?

Best simply to stop its function with wood fitted between the block and the rout. Trems have specific post mountings and the only one to fit the Wilkinson stud pattern will be a Wilkinson.
Each saddle has 2 adjustment screws......this is for saddle height making each string individually adjustable.

And once you get your floating trem blocked, you will suddenly find how much stiffer the guitar plays......yep, floating trems make the strings feel slinkier than blocked ones.
