Tricks to get Russian Big Muff to cut through

Re: Tricks to get Russian Big Muff to cut through

Wound up getting a behringer ultra fuzz .... I recently got the behringer EQ and was impressed with it so I got this fuzz because it has the sound I'm looking for in the demo and it has a tone knob which for me is a HUGE plus

not to mention it was only 30 bucks ;)

Congrats! As you've seen from your eq, don't let the Behringer name fool you. Some suck out of the box if they even work and some go on forever. Bet if you did some digging you could find which pedal it's copied from.

Your TFR didn't have a tone control?

Re: Tricks to get Russian Big Muff to cut through

its based on the old Boss FZ-3...

the TFR is good but unusable to my ears if its anywhere past the 0 mark with the tone knob. I will keep the TFR though because after playing through my main amp today with it I managed to get a pretty good crisp crunchy fuzz sound that I like.

I see myself using the TFR a lot with my side project with just me on guitar and bass and drums but in my main band with another guitarist I probably won't use it too often

Smart move. I'd keep the TFR also. If the Behringer sounds as good as the Boss FZ-3 then you're in luck. I always liked the Boss FZ pedals. Hope it holds up.

I bet that TFR would be good to lay down tracks with too. Layer it up with another guitar track. Money providing, I'd leep it for sure.

My thoughts exactly... when I want that BIG fuzz sound for recording I will have the TFR right there to put on... I actually play at home with an amp stand with the amp facing me so I adjust my EQ settings and pedal settings to where mics see my amps so I can get a better sound in the PA or when recording and it won't be too bright and trebly.
