Tricky amp question

Just a question for you amp gurus out there - if I have two channels available on my amp, and primarily use channel one clean with reverb, how do I switch to my 2nd dirty channel AND take out my reverb at the same time?

Now, the most obvious would be to have two separate reverbs on each channel, but unfortunately the amps I like (Fenders) have a master reverb. The 2nd option is to have a reverb pedal, but that kinda takes away from the amp itself. Plus there's still a lot of tap dancing with pedals. Am I missing/forgetting something here?

Re: Tricky amp question

i got really good at hitting both buttons on the foot switch at the same time.

i have seen a guy who had hot wired an old peavey footswitch to do what you are talking about, step on one button and both things change. you could also mod the amp so there is only reverb on the dirty channel, probably not the best option though

Re: Tricky amp question

What model Fender amp are you referring to? Lew

Re: Tricky amp question

Was probably looking at a Twin or Super Reverb. Someone here in NZ got Victoria to custom make an amp for him, which makes me think that I could possibly get the best of both worlds if I go that channel.

General question - how come no-one makes dual, programmable footswitches? Too hard?

Re: Tricky amp question

What you are referring to is real easy, use a dpdt stomp switch wire one half for the channel switch, and the other half to kill the reverb (just like the reverb pedal does, but connecting the sleeve to the tip of it's jack (whether 1/4 inch phone or old RCA style), then use a four conductor cable (each pole of the switch gets a set of conductors) wired to two jacks (one for channel and one for reverb), or if it's a stereo jack that controls both (modern Peaveys for example), then use a three conductor stereo cable wired to a stereo phone plug. ... Just depends on how the amp is set up, any tech can make short work of it, the pedal you are using can be modded, or you can buy a generic and have it modded.
