Tried installing a push/pull coil split and it doesn't do anything

I gave re-wiring a LTD maverick (slant single coil neck/humbucked brige, 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way switch) for coil splitting a shot based on a schecter diagram I found here:

I really like having push/pull on the tone pot and not the vol pot.

Anyway, after hacking it in and re-wiring the guitar the push/pull doesn't seem to work. the tone control rolls off fine, everything else works sound wise except nothing happens when I pull the shaft of the pot to split the pickups.

Is the above diagram correct? I'm stumped.

actually I forgot the mention the only way I varied it was leaving the sleeve/ground from the jack grounded to the back of the volume pot and not the tone pot. I didn't think that would make a difference.

Is there a wire going from the back of the tone pot to the back of the volume pot? If the tone pot doesn't have a ground connection, then the coil splitting won't work.

I checked all my grounds with a continuity meter turns out my jumper across the two terminals of the push/pull going to ground wasn't touching the casing enough to make a connection and the solder wasn't enough.

Thanks man!
