Today I wound up going to Des Moines after my tax appointment. And you know how you get that feeling in your gut to go somewhere and check things out? Well, my gut was telling me to head to Guitar Center.
I walked in and looked over the clearance guitars and then headed over to the used guitars, not really paying attention to the amps. But when my eyes drifted down below the used guitars, there it was, a Triple Rec Reborn for a thousand bucks. So I tried it out. The cleans were more crisp and clear, the distortion channels had a nice throaty growl, and it was fairly easy to dial good tones on each channel. Granted, I wasn't able to turn it up too loud, but what I heard was a great improvement over the older 3 channel Triple Rec I used to have. And I used to fight and fight with the tone controls on the old one to find tones I liked, which is why I ended up bartering it off.
So, of course, I put it on layaway!
I'll post more when I get it home and have a chance to let 'er rip.
ETA: I was originally headed to Des Moines to try out a Blackstar Fly.......yeah......that didn't happen.
