Oh yes you're right, my mistake, it was Zakk Speed's indeed. Here is what we were talking about.

Aww yeah, Zakk's is just the shizz - love the colour. Frank's has more features than a space shuttle , but hangs in a niche, like a holy relic.

Good luck getting a replacement pickup bezel for one of these!

I'm late to the show here but I had KMD make these for me back in 1985, triplebucker rails, fits in a standard humbucker case, they are in my 1972 Hagrom Swede wired for all options:
They are triple rail triplebuckers epoxy potted.

I have switching available for every possible combination of single, dual, triple, series parallel, phase options via 3 push pull pots and the 2 double pole triple throw switches on the upper bout of the body.
Lots of fun.

Back in the late 70's the first triple bucker I ever saw was in an Ibanez Iceman.

In the early 80's, Mighty Mite marketed the MotherBucker. I put one in my Tele, wired up with a trio of 3 position switches for coil tapping, phasing, etc. I could get the fattest blues-rock honk to a stilletto sharp funk rhythym - it was great!

Then came the triple bucker on the Hamers.... Basically a single coil paired with a humbucker. Didn't have the wiring choices the MotherBucker did, but it had some cool tones.

Last year, a client wanted that Hamer Phantom sound in his G&L Fallout, so I added a single coil next to the humbucker. Again - great tones, and the client loved it. Picture posted in later post.

well i would make a custom ring and mount the YJM set on there wired on series with each other as neck pickup and for the bridge something stupid like a Slug wired on series with whatever that is currently the hottest tele bridge pickup

I'd use up that for three single coils with Single/Parallel/Series switching: From bridge -> Twang Banger, SSL-7,SSL-5.

Just a bump for recap, AFAIK these are the only triple buckers ever made that fit into a standard humbucking route and pickup ring.

After KMD custom made mine to my specs I saw about 2 years later that they were now offering what looked like the same pickup as a stock item to purchase in their paper catalog that I got in the mail one day from them in 1987. I should've bought a set and checked to see if they were identical to my original custom made ones just for curiosity sake. I've only seen them in that old catalog though, never for sale new or used, so perhaps mine were truly custom and they never did make any more sets after mine. I just hope mine never die.

The only physical difference in the ones in the catalog from mine were I spec'ed mine out as having 2 height adjustment screw holes in a slightly enlarged size pickup ear on the bass side so I could put 2 screws in to control the tilt of the pickups and they were wax potted, not epoxy as I had spec'ed mine to be ( like the old tar back Gibsons), the stock one in the 1987 KMD catalog did not have that second screw hole nor epoxy potting. (some Guild humbuckers used to have that second screw for tilt, I like that).

A search of the web has turned up nothing about those KMD's other than some posts from me. I'd love to find a set of the standard ones if they even exist.

Man, you actually own a teenager wet dream of mine: a 1972 Hagstrom Swede!

Look at the grain of that mahogany top and the darkness of that ebony board... even after forty-five years she still makes me drool! Looks like it's true when they say that you never forget your first love.
