Okay I want to get some thoughts here. I can get a good deal on either a Triple Rectifier or a DSL 100. Does anyone have experience with one/both and which would you rate higher. I play everything from the Eagles and Zepplin to Cannibal Corpse. Most of the time is spent in higher gain settings. I know they are voice differently, but which is the better amp? I've heard really mixed things about the triple recto so I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you get a Mesa, get a 90's Dual Rectifier. Most agree it's a tighter soundng amp than the triple. Who needs that much power anyway? Between the two, I'd take the DSL100, but only because it sounds woodier and smoother. What you really should do is wait till you can get your hands on a EL-34 Mesa Stiletto. I haven't heard it yet, but it looks very promising.

150 watts of power is really not neccesary! Unless your ploaying stadium! and even then its more than enough. i say definaetly look into the single rectos and the dsl 50

I've tried the stilletto's, more like an 800 than anything, not nearly enough gain for metal.

I agree. Pretty much anywhere you gig your gonna be playing through a PA anyways. I have the single recto head and all I have to say is that its PLENTY. :32: :saeek:

Well I saw the Trip Rec for cheap on Ebay, $925. But I'm not going to bother. I re-tubed my Mesa 50/50 and the Marshall JMP-1 I just got. (It had the original Marshall tubes in there eek!) And I also played both a DSL and Triple Rec at Guitar Center tonight. I liked the variety and tone I could get out of my Mesa/Jmp-1 than either of the DSL and Trip Rec. So I'm sticking with what I have!
Good tubes do wonders. Its just that the Jmp-1 is very sensitive to how you EQ it and how yo set the gain (at least that's what I'm experiencing), and you do have to tool around with it quite a bit to get the sound you want. I've gotten lots of differnet tones so far which is cool. Thanks for the advice though gang!
