Triple Shot - extra wire

thats not true. on a tele, you actually have to separate one of the two grounds, either the cover on the neck or the baseplate on the bridge or youll get a nasty hum. ive wired up a strat with just two pups and a 4 way and it worked fine.

Would you mind sending me a diagram how you did that. I would really like to get that to work.

You can wire a guitar with 2 pickups, 2 volumes,
2 tone & a 4-way selector if you locate the control pots after the pickups , but before the 4-way. You will also need relocate the neck pickups tone & volume controls ground points to the same connection tab on the 4-way that the neck pickups return conductor is attached to.
The switches function will operate correctly in all four positions if switches out put connects directly to the jack’s tip.

The selection options between three pickups controlled by a 4-way is intriguing, but seems limiting the strat’s possibilities instead of widening them!

Another avenue to think about might be to use a push/pull pot to connect that other pickup to positions 2 & 4 on a 5-way
