Triple shot parallel setting: when do you use it?

As it says. I recently put in P-Rails with Triple shot rings. I can see the right context for most settings but am still figuring out how to use the parallel. When do you use it?

I use it in the neck position quite often.

Whenever I want.

I actually use it often, in both neck and bridge.

It's brighter, more single coil like, but without the hum.

Re: Triple shot parallel setting: when do you use it?

Early reviewers described the parallel mode on the P-Rails as being sort of like a bright, bubbly PAF. I've more recently run into people comparing it more to a Filter'Tron that got louder without getting darker.

One problem with very varied pickups on a guitar is the same thing you run into switching to guitars with very different pickups: You often need to adjust the amp to get the best sounds out of each. Or switch channels.

Also depends on your taste in tones. People used to non-master volume amps seem to get along with such variances a bit more...

^Yes. More airy, crisper, more acoustic-like, brighter but not harsh, great tonal range but kinda scooped.

Re: Triple shot parallel setting: when do you use it?

i like it in the neck for cleaner tones and dirty rhythm parts with both pups

Re: Triple shot parallel setting: when do you use it?

Parallel was a more usable humbucker sound than series, to me. Series always sounded too fat and muddy. But parallel was just right- this was in an all-maple guitar, mind you.

Re: Triple shot parallel setting: when do you use it?

it depends on you, you can use it on any 4 wire humbucker. Just remember to convert the color code if it isn't Seymour Duncan. Just be aware of out of phase in the middle position.

You could use it in just the neck if you feel like it, or go nuts and put two in a guitar like Joe Gore (Tonefiend) on youtube did like so , this is using two of them to their full potential.

firstly the blog to go with it

I use both of mine in parallel about 80% of the time.

I think Joe made a huge mistake in his wiring. He keeps saying that the parallel setting is the darkest and dirtiest setting. Absolutely NO WAY! Series humbucker mode is BY FAR the darkest dirtiest of all the possible settings. Parallel is a brighter, airier, more acoustic tone with less mids than series..
