only the bridge pickup is working i checked the wireing the only prob i see is the earth ground wire to the jack is missing would this cause the problem ?

That would be your problem. My solution to wiring is always take a wiring diagram and go over it connection by connection. If you don't find a problem, rewire it.

First of all, if you even have to ask that question it would mean that even though you checked the wiring, you'd better get someone else to check your wiring for you.

You're missing the ground wire to the jack and "only the bridge pup is working"? That implies that only the neck pup isn't working. If you were missing that wire you wouldn't get any sound out of your guitar on ANY pup setting.

We could help you if you could include a detailed photo of your control cavity clearly showing all of the wire connections.
