Thanks! I have quite a bit of room to drop the saddles and may start with that. When I got the bass, some of the saddles were so high, they were sitting on top of the adjust screws. I had to tear it down to rethread the screws into the saddles. When I do the relief test on the neck, there is barely any daylight under the strings mid fretboard. I could probably slide a thin pick under them. So, its pretty well set up I think. Just want to bring it down a smidge more and it'll be a beast..

Wanted to toss an update at this thread... I took some time today and lowered all the saddle height screws about 2 turns. They are now just barely sticking out of the blocks and the results are what Id hoped to achieve!!! The action up the neck is about perfect, for neck relief, I still show just a tiny bit of daylight under the strings, so it didnt put me to the board, so it appears relief was ok. I may still take another turn or two on those saddles, but man, its amazing now!! About the best playing bass Ive ever played (within a reasonable price!) The most memorable bass I ever played was an old Kramer neck thru.. Anyhow, looks like my saga has come to a close.. Thanks for all the input!! And tho it wasnt a truss issue, I learned a BUNCH about how to tackle it when I need to. Just need to get some tools! Of course, lower the saddles/strings has made the pups alot bolder sounding, so I may need to lower em a bit.. Now, about pickup height....??? haha

Look down from the headplate, unless you are in Australia of course. Gravity is opposite there.

Besides what I said in my last post, there's a balance in the action between being a breeze to play and having the strings ringing nice and strong. Get the bridge height where you like it, then use the truss rod to find the area where the strings resonate and respond the way you want them.

Like I said, use the 7th fret height as the first guide, then get the weakest notes on the neck to ring as good as possible. Then, check the intonation, and don't touch a thing after that.
