Truss Rod Rattle

Truss Rod Rattle

Yeah, I can't hear the rattle through an amp (though I haven't cranked it with a drummer yet) so it doesn't bother me that much. If the rod's doing it's job but rattles a bit, I'll leave it as it is. I just wanna make sure it isn't broken.

I'm all over the place in this thread, sorry. Having the internet on my phone tends to encourage me to think out loud...something which I'm already a little too prone to do. :smack:

Re: Truss Rod Rattle

It might help if you confessed what exact guitar is under discussion. Some guitars aimed at the metal fraternity employ a ToM bridge with the strings running through the top of the body via steel ferrules. Some Vees have that big ol' V shaped piece of metal, acting as either one enormous ferrule or as the actual string anchor. Either way, plenty of potential for metallic overtones.

Re: Truss Rod Rattle

If it is truly "truss rod resonance" I would take the guitar back if it is a new guitar. It will be a headache for as long as you own the guitar. Only thing tightening and loosing the truss rod will do is move the resonance to a different note.
