truss rod wrench question

Anyone know the size truss rod wrench I need for a MIM tele?-serial # MZ2196499. Rod is accessed from headstock. I've tried 1/4-7/32-5.5mm-5mm. All too big. The channel down to the rod seems to have a slight angle. Is a ball end wrench needed in this situation?

All too large. It's probably either 3/16" or 5/32" probably the latter as most Fenders use imperial sizes.

US strats with bi-flex truss rods usually use a 1/8" allen key with a long foot to the L.

The largest size allen key i've ever seen used on a guitar is 5mm. 3/16 is a tiny bit less than 5mm

Update on this. I just worked on one of these and found that the Allen wrench needed was a 1/8"...
