It's funny that you made this post Kramersteen. I was going to make the same post. I have always liked the idea of a compression rod do to it retaining more of the wood in the neck, along with being able to better dictate were it influences the neck by the design of the curvature that it sits in. But I also like the idea of the double acting rod due to it simplicity of install. I have purchased a hot rod from Stew Mc, the one that uses the 4mm wrench. I like the idea of having a small thin groove for the allen wrench so that I mite not need a T rod cover. My plan was to install it upside down so that the adjuster would be closer to the neck face with the peg head being tilted back. I also like the style that PRS and Teuffel use which has the anchor at each end threaded, one end right hand thread the other left hand thread. These work the same as a double acting rod, they just use the neck itself as the stationary bar. I have been contemplating the PRS/Teuffel style but set in a curved groove like a compression rod to: 1) get the adjuster as close to the peg head face as possible while going under a locking nut. 2) Better dictate were it influences the neck, and 3) Keep the adjuster as small as possible. I would like to have a groove no wider than 3/16" to 1/4" cut using a core box (round nose) bit in the face of the peg head. Any thoughts?
