Trying a PRS for the first time

Re: Trying a PRS for the first time

Own a 2007 Royal Blue Custom 24 now like them a lot. This one is not going anywhere as it really does some things very well. Still like my Carvins a litlle better though.

Re: Trying a PRS for the first time

Man, absolutely love PRS here as well, but if there's something I'd change about them is the 10" radius to something a little bit flatter. Just a taste thing, though.

Re: Trying a PRS for the first time

The bird inlays don't bother me at all. And the headstock is great. If you don't love the looks of it, at least you gotta love that it is a 3+3 that keeps the strings perfectly straight...like a Fender but without the problems that the 6 inline creates.

I'm a big fan of the top of the line PRSs, but a hater of the SEs.

I wil say that if I were in the market for one I would buy yours in a heartbeat. Beautiful, and it has DOTS!
I agree with all of you that the headstock is practical, and no offense to those who love them, but it's the pointy aspect that bothers me. But not too badly.
I only recently learned that most PRS have a 10" fingerboard radius? That is ideal for me.

Re: Trying a PRS for the first time

I think PRS guitars sound awesome
The wide neck just throws me in the store
I suppose I could get used to it
But I'd hate to spend that much and have to break me in to it

Re: Trying a PRS for the first time

They're pretty much all I play anymore.

A '95 CU22 and a '02 CU22 being my two faves.

I did change the pickups to Duncans: Seth Lovers without covers in one and Antiquitys with covers in the other.

And I replaced the five position rotary switch with a three way LP style switch in both.

I also have three SE Singlecuts. The SE pickups were too bright, and at least to me, harsh...so I replaced them with Duncans too: 59's, Seths and Antiquitys.
