Trying to choose pickup for HSS Strat (Sh-6 vs Sh-8?)

Re: Trying to choose pickup for HSS Strat (Sh-6 vs Sh-8?)

i find the Custom pickup in general has the right amount of lows and highs. mids can be set with the magnet type. and the C8 has the whole range just ready to be exploited for whatever genre you play, and it will sound bigger than most designed pickups for those specific genre's. C8 can even do vintage with the right amp. and for metal its like the closest thing to a active EMG i can think of. and Schecters seems to love the C8. :)

This is where he found it.

36th anniversary paf in F# tuning doing metal through a peavey xxx. Now that's thinking outside the box.

you know the more i hear that clip the more im interested in hearing my DSL with a really lower gain pickup like the PAF, and then set the DSL's with the gain on full. i bet it would clear it up and still have that right amount of focused gain in the signal.
hmmm.....though id be concerned it would be too vintage and id never be able to get away from that influence in the tone.

The 59 bridge tends to get used for metal but I never hear anyone chugging a pearly gates or seth or jazz through a high gain amp. Maybe someone can enlighten us. Personally, I'd love to try a paf bridge for metal.
