About 8-10 years ago I loaded my Strat with a Little '59 at bridge, Vintage Rails in the middle, and Cool Rails at the neck based upon an article ("More Versatility From Your Strat) by a Steve Melcalfe (it was part of a longer article by Jerry Donahue). The shop I specifically asked to wire according to his schematic got lazy and just wired it traditionally. To add insult to injury, they tossed the wiring schematic.
I now want to get it right but cannot find the article anywhere. Does it ring a bell to anyone, or has anyone done the wiring and can describe it?
The setup was for each switch position was:
Using a Schaller 5-position Mega-Switch
1. Full Old '59 (double coil humbucker)
2. Split (front coil) of Old '59 and Vintage Rails.
3. Split (rear coil) of Old '59 and Cool Rails
4. Full Vintage Rails and Cool Rails
5. Full Col Rails.
I might try to do it myself now but also am unsure about how to identify the heads from the dual coil Old '59.
Any good pickup geekw out there who can help? Thanks!
