Trying to get this type of tone

This one of my favorite p90 tones, to me it sounds like a overdriven tone with a medium amount of distortion. I was wondering if I can get this type tone with an overdrive pedal in front of my amp or is the only way by just cranking up the volume to get the tone. If it is possible with an overdrive pedal what pedals would you guys suggest to get a similar tone. I was thinking something like a fulldrive, ocd, or ts might work. Any other suggestions would be okay too.

ya for sure some sort of distortion pedal should get you closer to that tone.... again the amp counts too.... Does you Marshall 900 not get close to this tone?

The guitar on this sounds like every other new hard rock punk like band... Buzz saw

It does get close, but I think the tone isn't as cutting with the midrange as in the video. Actually thinking more about the lead tone, like in this video at around 3:00.

Maybe it my eq settings, should i try more treble/mids/presence and less bass.

Re: Trying to get this type of tone

that tone sounds like its very compresed to me. just add some compression to the amp during your solo. its a simple tone but again its ran thru a compresser. some compressers will mess with your tone so ask around here to see who knows of a good one. I know Robert Keely makes great compression peddles but they tend to be alittle pricey. Industry bigwigs use them. There are others on this forum who can modify most peddles to get big tone out of them. good luck

For the first video I am thinking a RAT. Notice how his palm mutes aren't the tightest and have that mid range to it as well that my RAT used to have.
