Trying to select a new amp.

I am saving money for a new amp, and I was wondering if you guys would help me out on selecting an amp. I am looking to spend anywhere from 400-600 dollars on an amp. I mostly play any type of music, but I mostly lean to metal and other types of heavier music. So, something with a nice crunchy distortion would be nice and a decent clean would be apretiated! I was looking at the Marshall MG100HDFX / MG412 combo, I would also like your opions on that.

Thank you for your feedback in advance!

Re: Trying to select a new amp.

Stay away from solid state Marshalls.

At that budget, I'd look into a Peavey 5150 combo, or spend a bit more and get an XXX.

I'll probably be heading to the music store this weekend, I will diffently try the peavey, thanks for the recommendation!

Re: Trying to select a new amp.

The key word you must drop from your question is: NEW, dont buy a new amp, unless your prepared to drop a load of coin (2-3 times your budget) all you will find new is crap. Go for an older tube amp...JCM 800, 900, small Boogie, Fender Deville...etc.

Re: Trying to select a new amp.

I have never shopped from eBay... it sort of scares me. Haha I probably should try eBay. :smack:
