TSL or DSL??

I've thought of buying a TSL, but my friend told me that the TSL suxxx and DSL is much better.. Which of these is better for modern, warm, jazz rock/rock/hard rock/metal playing??

Re: TSL or DSL??

The only differce I see is the 3rd channel. I like the 60watt TSL. But if you only need 2 channels go with the DSL.

Re: TSL or DSL??

For some reason JCM2000 user buddies around here in my place say the DSL is far more reliable on the road and has rawer (e.g. better) tone.

Re: TSL or DSL??

The DSL, because it has two independent channels, unlike the TSL, which has one shared channel. Still, the TSL does sound good.

Re: TSL or DSL??

It is a metter of personal prefrance but the vast vast majority prefer the DSL.... including me...

Re: TSL or DSL??

What exactly is the difference between ALL of the Marshalls....TSL, DSL, JTM, JCM....?

And what makes a Plexi a Plexi ???

Sorry for the semi-hijack.....just curious!!!

WOW.....very cool! I'm far from being an electronics major, but I had no idea PC boards were around in 1973! I would've guessed the PTP to PC board switch would've been in the 80s.........

So....it's all basically just different circuitry = personal preference????

Thanks MRID ! Just trying to figure out WHY I want a JTM45 !!! :32:

heh - DSLs are simpler to set up than TSLs, only the options you really need.

acoustic simulator? DFX? almost twice the price? no thanks :)

Re: TSL or DSL??

Dunno bout the US but in Europe the DSL 50 is virtually the same price as TSL60, DSL50 is like €70 more expensive IIRC..but Yes DSL much Simpler And IMO better Sound Quality

Re: TSL or DSL??

im in britain heh - the damn things are made here!
typical quote here:

Marshall DSL-100 £549
Marshall TSL-100 £632

why the hell did i think it was twice the price? *slaps forehead* my bad :alcoholic

This is not entirely true. The DSL does have 2 independent channels, but the TSL60 also has 2 independent channels (really 3(clean/crunch/lead) with a SHARED eq for the crunch/lead). The TSL100 has 3 FULLY independent channels(no shared eqfor crunch and lead).

Cheers Primo.

Re: TSL or DSL??

Thats true, hence the Big Jump in price from TSL 60 To TSL 100 , unlike DSL which is like i think €70 difference from the DSL 50 and DSL 100...

Re: TSL or DSL??

I would also think that the TSL60 would be more road worthy than its big brother the TSL100, since it has less features. Kind of between a DSL50/100 and the TSL100. I have the TSL60 and have tried the TSL100, but never the DSL50/100.

Cheers Primo.

Re: TSL or DSL??

Ah man if you haven't tried the DSL's your missing out big time....and i wouldn't say any TSL is very road worty because ive heard a few stories of the TSL being a little unreliable..a few on that its circuit boards aren't the best and theres alot of problems with resistors burning out and such......

I believe you are mistaken. My TSL has three seperate channels, while the DSL have two channels with one set of eq.

No but the Channels are actually shared, the DSl's 50 & 100 have two seperate while the TSL 60 has 3 channles but Lead and Crunch Are Shared so Technically speaking it Has Two Seperate Channels, But The TSL 100 HAs 3 Seperate Channels..
