TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

I am a obsessive moron idiot. Always comparing **** and feel like wasting time usually. Never the less this is my latest obsession. I have both of these amps here and did a ton of tests. TSL is good because it can do low volume recording 25 watt VPR. So I did some tests with the 25 watt on and off against the JCM800. I got to return one in a few days.

Please download the zip and tell me what you guys think. My ****ing ears are bleeding. Try to keep in mind not to favor the "louder" clips.

Thanks for feeding the obsession!

Each folder contains a similar riff. Out of those folder you pick the one you like best.
ex:
A - 4
B - 8 so on

I'm sorry, I must be missing something. How do we tell which ones are JCM 800 and which ones are TSL 100?

Hi guys that it exactly so no one is biased. It is a blind test.

Each folder contains a similar riff. Out of those folder you pick the one you like best.
ex:
A - 4
B - 8

and so on.

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

I like clip#5 (folder D) and 20 (folder B). They seem to be more natural, crunchy, and punchy than the rest of the clips. Let me know which amp these two clips are for!

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

If it makes you feel any better im an obssesive freak as well!

i liked clips B18 and D5 most

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

Thanks guys. I posted this on Harmony Central and got nothing but grief. No one is helpful just bagging on it.

So Thanks. what about A and C you dind't mention those.

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

Heres what I thought of your clips, I just listened to them at my computer, so I don't know if thats a really good test or not. Here's what I hear:

A 9: more high end than the others, good definition
10:
11:
12: less definition than the previous 3
13: for the last 4 the single note part seemed weak (at 7 seconds)
14: Seemed like it had more gain, less definition
15:
+ 16: Probably my favorite of A, more gain, seemed brighter and aggressive than the others

B 17:
18:
19: part around 6 seconds seemed weak
20:
Really couldn't hear much difference in these.

+C 5: Most aggressive and punchy
C 6: seems quieter in volume, doesn't really stand out
C 7: Generic Marshall sound
C 8: Lack of definition, too muddy

D 1: Good
D 2: seems to have less volume than the others, not as punchy
D 3: seemed really quiet, and scooped, made the tone seem like it was in the background or something
D 4: little bit less definition
+D 5: My favorite, aggressive and bright

I have + next to the ones that I liked the most. Could you PM me which amp was used for each clip?
Thanks,
Allen

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

I like these the best...
D5
B19
B20

A and C all kind of sounded the same imo, I dunno, nothing popped out as great from them.

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

Wow that is some fantastic feedback. On D I am surprised because everyone choose the same one and on another board same choice. Which is also mine. I will PM you answers thanks.

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

Well, here are my faves:

A-11
B-17
C-5
D-5

Hope this helps..BTW, what model is the JCM 800? I have the 2210 version, which seems to have way more gain than the one you're using..

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

I think why everyone likes D5 is that it is a defined sound, not sure I can define what i mean really. It doesn't sound generic like the other ones, it's like you were aiming for a certain tone, not a generic classic rock sound.

B17 and B19 I like and sound about the same except B19 sounds to have a bumped bass.

Re: TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!

Can't open them on my puter, Any chance you could post them on soundclick? Be an easier way for those that won;t support this format.

Never used Soundclick sounds like a lot of extra work. Do you use Windows Mwdia or Music MAtch both work?
