Tube amp Master volume vs. NMV and Overdrive pedal

Any ideas on a Master volume amp like a Marshall JCM for instance vs. a Non master volume all tube amp with a good overdrive like a TS-9, Rat or FDII?

Volume? A good clean amp that does well with peals and a Twin Tube Classic.

I think the guy posted essentially the same question after i did about pedals and it was worded better, so it got the responces. Thats a great thread and it answered my questions.
