Tube pedals or emulators for ss amps?

I have a few. I have a Tech 21 Liverpool (VOX) I use with my JC 120 that sounds killer. I also have a Chandler Tube Drive that Marshall-ups my amp but those are hard to find and hard to find cheap. I would suggest any of the Tech 21 stuff.

The newer Sansamp PSA-2 should be considered, as well as amp modelers like the Line 6 HX Stomp.

I had a Line six amp modeler as well and didn't care for that either. I mean It was OK just like the sans amp but they both left me wanting more.

Maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist. I'm trying to get that fat juice blistering tone that's just dripping with stress like a balloon that ready to burst.

A tube screamer or overdrive?
Maybe a preamp?

A good tube amp with a TS-based overdrive (like the 805) can do that. Or some kind of amp modeler with the same pedal. It shouldn't be too hard to get.

No tube amp, so can't do that, but the 805 eh? How much are those things?

See if you can find one of the old Duncan Twin Tube pedals. The Mayhem might not be your cup of tea, but either the Classic or the Blue would probably do it. You can still sometimes find them on E-Bay, but they're scarce. People tend to hang on to them.

A less expensive alternative would be EHX

If you're not planning to gig with it and have a decent interface and laptop/PC/mac, I'd even consider some of the NeuralDSP (or similar) stuff. The Soldano SLO-100 and Fortin Cali suite are crazy good in my opinion.
