tube problem

Yesterday i was playing through my VHT and when i went to turn it off i noticed one of the power tubes was glowing blueish/purpleish. From everything i've heard thats a blown tube. I've only had the amp for about a month and have taken really good care of it, any reason it would blow so fast? And has anyone had any experience with VHT's customer service?

Re: tube problem

Just one of the tubes? My =C='s glow a blueish color down the center, thats normal. If they're glowing a brillant red on the plates like the heating element of a stove then you've got issues.....

I'm really hoping it's just one of the tubes. Thanx for the reply, this is my first real tube head and i'm pretty much a noob when it comes to them.

Re: tube problem

The blue/purple glow is normal, and nothing to worry about. Do a websearch - there's a site that expl, ains what it is and why it happens. Mostly, it just looks cool.

You can see the tube in the middle is glowing blue, this is normal. It does look cool!

Yea, mine looks like that picture. Thanks for the responses guys :beerchug: i was sweating bullets thinking there was something wrong with my amp.

Re: tube problem

I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly it's because there's oxygen that gets inside the tube and it reacts that way
