Looking for a second opinion.....
I'm getting an odd distortion on one of my amps (Boogie Mark III). It sounds like a bad transistorized fuzz/distortion coming through my speakers. Actually, it sounds like a bad, transistorized emulation of torn speakers, except that you can also hear fundamental note clear as day. It kinda reminds me of the sound a pedal makes when it can't handle being in the loop.
I've pluged another amp into this cab and it works fine, so I'm pretty sure it's the amp.
This problem has slowly been getting worse over the last three times I've used this amp. It's pretty much non-existant on higher notes, but gets worse and worse as the notes get lower and lower. Sometimes I can hear an octave in it, but most of the time it just sounds like crap.
I'm kinda thinking it's a preamp tube and that the lower notes are vibrating it enough to cause this distortion. I've had tube go microphonic on me before, but I've never heard anything like this.
Any thoughts?
