Tube types and brands?

I recently bought a bugerra 333xl infinium. It has 4 el34 power tubes. There worn out and need replaced. Im new to the tube amp world. I play heavy metal such as black label society to white chapel to bullet for my valentine. I want high gain CHUNK!!! The amp will fit 6l6 tubes with no modding. Ive been told the 6l6's will be a better fit for me. My question is what brand of tube is silid and reliable? And what is the difference between the 1-3, 4-7, 8-10 tubes? Thanks!

Re: Tube types and brands?

EL34s have a more middy tone while 6l6s are scooped comparied to them. I prefer EL34 for punchy and cutting dirty tones.

Tube brands that I can heartily recommend are Tung-Sol and winged c Svetlana SED.

Re: Tube types and brands?

I would go with Tung-Sols but people seem to really like JJ tubes. The thing about tubes are they all have differences but their subtle.

Re: Tube types and brands?

Sadly, Winged C SED tubes have been discontinued and I've heard that prior to them going out of business they've had some major reliability problems. The ones from years ago were great, however.

Re: Tube types and brands?

Pretty sure its a self biasing amp. The Bugeras have pretty good tube care designed in.
El34 bumps midrange a bit and 6l6 is a tad more HiFi. Marshall vs Fender amps. You'll get more bass and highs with the 6l6s.

Re: Tube types and brands?

If it's self biasing, try a KT-77 and get the best of the EL34 and 6L6.
