Tune O Matics..??

ive looked around and i cant really understand the difference in the tune o matics vs the tone pros..it says they're locking..but dont the tune o matics like lock in too ? if not wouldnt the tail piece just come out of the body when the strings are tightened or wouldnt it just take a little force to pull it out of the guitar ? any help is appreciated and sry if its been asked before i searched around but with the ammount of times " tune o matic " comes up its kinda like a needle in a haystack lol

tune o matics are almost always loose. The only things that are fixed are 2 bolts for the stop tail, and 2 posts for the saddle piece. The saddle piece slides onto the 2 posts, and the stop tail hooks onto the 2 bolts in back. The tension of the strings keep the rear stop tail in place tightly, as well ast he saddle piece.

The tone pros just have locking parts. i guess it's more stable, but a well setup tune o matic shouln't have any tuning problems or stability issues anyway. Some say the locking parts give you more sustain....

is there anything different used to mount the fixed bolts and posts in a tune o matic vs tonepros ? are there things to use that are better than others ?

Tune-o-matic bridges fit right on to the stock posts of my SG ,and the locking studs fit the stopbar bushings. I don't know about other brands though.

IMO, Tonepros can be a bit pricey brand new. I would say it is an improvement, but not nessesary.

Hi there!

I've put Tonepros on one of my Les Paul's. I could not hear any difference in sound, but it is nice to be able to change the strings without the pieces falling of and scratching the finish!!

I won't buy any more though as they are expensive as heck in Norway!
